Dear Merchants,
The city of Oakland really outnumbered our merchants today. Our council Abel and his chief of staff Jennie as well as many other city representatives have shown up for our meeting. Although we had only about 12 merchants showed up, we did get our message across that East Lake does need a public parking lot. For this reason, city staffs have been committed to working with us on this issue. They will start the process locating potential lots in the area. In addition, Here are a few important contact information you will need:
1. Construction of BRT will not start until early 2017 for our East Lake area.
2. During construction, if you have any complaint or suggestion about the construction work, please call or email Jorse Velasco BRT Project Construction Community Relations 510-926-1136 His email brtvelasco@actransit.org or Minguel Martinez, Community outreach team manager 510-681-3962. His email brtmmartinez@actransit.org
3. There is a dedicated fund of 2 millions dollars in total, for those of us who is being affected by the BRT, please contact Paula Groves, She is vice president of Business consulting firm. Her firm has been hired by the city of Oakland as the point of contact. Her main job is to assist merchants and businesses in the area. 4. There's still available fund from Facade and Tenant improvement program. If you want some matching fund for your new signage, or if you want to do some improvement on your vacant building... Please contact Larry Gallegos at 510-238-6174
