Bus Rapid Transit (BRT)---A New AC Transit Bus Project Will Change International Blvd. Forever

Bus Rapid Transit (BRT)---A New AC Transit Bus Project  Will Change International Blvd. Forever

International Blvd merchants are organizing to be heard. Join Fruitvale, San Antonio and Eastlake merchants as they meet with City and AC Transit representatives, elected official and attorney, to make sure their concerns about the BRT are addressed.

We are meeting every 1st and 3rd Wednesday of very month to get organized! Next Meeting: Wednesday, February 19, 2014 at 2:30 pm at EBAYC- 2025 E. 12th St.

What are some of the changes? AFTER construction:

  • Approximately 500 existing parking spaces will be removed from International.
  • International Blvd. will be a two-lane street rather than a four lane street, impacting loading and unloading.
  • Most left turns from International will be prohibited

MARK YOUR CALENDAR FOR THE FOLLOW UP MEETINGS!

To hear merchant concerns the Deputy City Administrator and a Civil Rights Attorney will meet merchants on:

Fred Blackwell Deputy City Administrator

Friday, February 21, 2014 at 3:30 pm at Jalisco’s Restaurant

1721 International Blvd, between 17th and 18th Ave.

Miya Saika Chen, Attorney: Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights

Thursday, February 27, 2014 at 3:30 pm at EBAYC- 2025 E. 12th St

Why these meetings are so important?

Because we put the pressure on, as AC-Transit will present a plan to the City Council in April 2014.  We need to make sure this plan addresses our concerns!

Keep in mind… BRT Construction is planned for early 2015!
